Well…call me crazy but I have the biggest woman crush on this breathtakingly beautiful and stylish debutant actress. Her name is Lupita Nyong’o;right now she is the hottest rising star and she has been rocking the red carpet lately. Lupita, a Kenyan born is the supporting actress in the film 12 years a Slave which is one of the most talk about film at the moment. I love her style and her makeup is flawless. She recently gave an interview to Instyle magazine and she said “Why blend into the background when you can make a fierce-and unforgettable-statement with your clothes?” This statement struck a chord with me. I remember when I first moved to UK , I used to wear vibrant colours (I am from the tropics and we love colours) but I slowly opted for darker ones because I simply did not want to stand out in the crowd! Well, Lupita is making a bold statement with her style. She embraces the bold in a passionate mix of vibrant colours and I love it.

My daughter thinks Lupita is a younger version of moi (wishful thinking on her part!) …well whilst we do have a few things in common like studying film and media studies at university, living in Kenya (I was only there for a couple of years!) loving bold colours, NARS lipsticks (semi matte scarlet empress is my favourite) and MAC foundation for dark complexion-unfortunately I do not have her bone structure and that enduring beauty…oh and I cannot compete with her wardrobe!!! Well if my daughter thinks her mummy is that beautiful so be it-that makes me a happy mummy! Watch Lupita’s interview with Vogue magazine here

Oh gosh Yesss. If i did #WCW on instagram she’d be my pick! Her choices on the red carpet this Awards season have been amazing…bold yet elegant!
