The hair challenge!

My hair inspiration!

My first post for 2015! Happy new year and safe journey to 2016. Three days into 2015 and I am already facing a big challenge. My afro hair! At the beginning of 2014, I decided that in 2015 I wanted to embrace my natural beauty so my afro, kinky, curly hair is back (I am not sure how to describe it to be honest!). At the age of 18 I decided that I wanted my hair relaxed (chemically processed to be exact!) so for 27 years of my life (Yup I will be 45 this year!)I have not really seen what my hair looks like in its natural state. A year ago I opted to chop all my hair off so that I can grow it back. It was not an easy decision…first I was hairless because I shaved it off and now I am faced with an afro which is getting bigger and bigger by day and I am loving it. I guess embracing what mother nature gave me is kind of uplifting. My struggle is trying to keep it moisturise all day but I am sure I will figure it out! So if anyone out there have some brilliant solutions please send them my way 🙂

I end my first post for this year with a quote from one of my favourite author.“It happens to everyone as they grow up. You find out who you are and what you want, and then you realize that people you’ve known forever don’t see things the way you do. So you keep the wonderful memories, but find yourself moving on.” ― Nicholas Sparks

Much love LBS

  1. Hey fellow naturalista 🙂 I’ve been natural for a while now, and I’m certainly not any kind of hair guru (tend to wear a pretty scarf most days out of laziness) but I love the freedom from the creamy crack and other hair hazards! I would head to YouTube although you can get lost down the rabbit hole of Natural Hair videos there are loads of fantastic tips. I also dip in and out of blogs like Curly Nikki and My Fro & I for inspiration on care and styling. It can be trickier when you’re not used to coping with the fro but it’s so worth it – enjoy the journey and embrace you!
